President and Managing Partner Brendan Walsh draws upon his extensive experience in insurance and financial services to lead the Catalyst team in their development of client strategies. Brendan’s emphasis is always on finding the right plan to help increase and preserve the wealth of each client.
Brendan is a native of Grosse Pointe and a graduate of DePaul University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in music. His studies helped lead him to perform in community and semi-professional theater in the years that followed.
Upon graduating from DePaul, Brendan relocated to the Washington D.C. area, where he worked for Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity as director of chapter operations, and later as event coordinator for the Washington Speakers Bureau.
Eventually Brendan joined Northwestern Mutual Insurance, based in McLean, Virginia, and was asked to be part of an effort to establish a Washington D.C. office for Northwestern Mutual. That office was highly successful and eventually became the company’s regional headquarters.
Unbeknownst to Brendan, however, his father warned Brendan’s managing partner at Northwestern Mutual that he would eventually look to bring him home to take over his company, Walsh Financial Group. The managing partner told Brendan’s father, “Good luck. I’m going to try my best to keep him.”
The call came in 2012, and despite Northwestern Mutual’s best efforts, they knew how much it meant for Brendan to join his father’s company.
The move set about a succession plan that resulted in Brendan succeeding his father on September 1, 2015, and renaming the company Catalyst Solutions Group.
Brendan is a member of the Million Dollar Round Table, the world’s leading association of independent financial services and life insurance professionals. He also chairs the investment committee for Christ Church of Grosse Pointe.
He and his wife, Kelly, have been married since 2007 and have three children – Elizabeth, Bennett and Charlotte.
